OVALS
Becoming interested in the oval shape I started to group separate ovals and sometimes diamonds into arrangements on the wall. These were either abstract or figurative often using a smouldering effect created by wire brushes over acrylic. Later articulated as a feminine sublime in my Masters dissertation in a response to the technological sublime as written about by Gilbert Rolfe where I used imagery based on computer circuit diagrams. An example of the figurative, History Pail was a multi oval wallwork in the shape of a bucket depicting episodes and thoughts about the imagery of New Zealand history and the arrival of the pakeha.
